What is the Predator?

The Diablo Sport Predator for 1999-2004 Lightning / 2002-2004 Harley (part no. U7158) is a state-of-the art, high performance tuning flash programmer in a sleek handheld design. Once connected to the vehicle, the Predators internal computer recognizes the vehicles PCM and automatically picks the proper tuning files designed specifically for that PCM. Inside the Predator's memory are the actual tuning files that optimize spark timing and air/fuel ratio curves. The transmission parameters are remapped to improve the shift characteristics such as shift firmness and shift points. Unlike other 'tuners', DiabloSport's programming is performed in very small increments throughout the entire RPM range, for a smoother, wider and a more predictable power delivery. DiabloSport engineers spend many hours on the dyno, street and track to ensure the tunes provided with the Predator are the best they can be.

The Predator was created with one thing in mind, POWER!

Average power gains are in 20-30 RWHP range. The Predators additional power makes itself noticeable immediately with an increase in power that starts in the low RPMs and builds into a frenzy at the high RPMs. (If used in combination with the a smaller blower pulley, power gains of about 40-50 RWHP can be achieved).
Special Note: The 90mm MAF tunes are only applicable for 1999-2000 Lightning vehicles that are upgraded from the smaller stock MAF to the newer and larger 90mm MAF sensor
  • 87 octane: tune for 87 octane and stock pulley.
  • Pulley 87 octane: tune for 87 octane and pulley, max 13-14psi.
  • 90mm MAF 87 octane: tune for 87 octane, calibrated for a stock 90mm Lightning Mass air meter, will only work with a STOCK 90mm Lightning MAF.
  • Pulley 90mm MAF 87 octane: tune for 87 octane, pulley (max 13-14psi), calibrated for a stock 90mm Lightning mass air meter, will only work with a STOCK 90mm Lightning MAF.
  • 91 octane: tune for 91 octane and stock pulley.
  • Pulley 91 octane: tune for 91 octane and pulley, max 13-14psi.
  • 90mm MAF 91 octane: tune for 91 octane, calibrated for a stock 90mm Lightning Mass air meter, will only work with a STOCK 90mm Lightning MAF.

  • Factory hp tune: Factory tune, use this to modify adjustable parameters.
  • Factory hp tune 90mm MAF: Factory tune calibrated for a STOCK 90mm Lightning Mass air meter, use this to modify adjustable parameters.

    A Predator equipped vehicle will notice significant improvements in drivability. The additional power and improved shift patterns created by the Predator tune will yield quicker acceleration, firmer shifts, better mileage and improved towing characteristics, whether it is in town or out on the highway towing an 8,000 lbs trailer.

    The power increase in the lower RPMs will yield a better throttle response; help maintain speeds on inclines and towing. The wider power band that the Predator creates will be particularly noticeable in city driving, where speeds constantly change. The mid-to-upper power increase is extremely useful on the highway when passing slower vehicles and to quickly maneuver out of emergency situations.

    The increase in MPG is a byproduct of maximized engine efficiency, the improved timing curve and air/fuel ratio creates a more complete combustion, i.e. the engine extracts more power from each molecule of gasoline.

    We have tunes for 87, 91, 93 octane and configured them for different pulleys and boost levels. We took it even one step further and made tunes for the 1999 to 2000 trucks with the stock mass air meter as well as the larger 90mm mass air meter found on the 2001 and up Lightning trucks

    DiabloSport has generated dyno tested tunes, including a pair of tunes for the 90mm MAF addition for 1999-2000 trucks.

    Predator tunes re-map the:
    • Fuel Curves
    • Timing Curves
    • Extend Speed Limiters
    • Extend Rev Limiters
    DiabloSport Performance tunes require the use of Super Unleaded / Premium grade fuel only, like carried by Amoco/BP, Sunoco or Mobil.

    DiabloSport also recommends to install the transmission replacement PowerValve for improved shifting when using high performance tunes.

    Adjustable Parameters

    The Predator features end user adjustable parameters so the end user can customize his/her tune depending on other modifications done to the vehicle. Because we allow for timing and fuel adjustments the end user can optimize the tune for his/hers specific vehicle utilizing a dyno with proper air fuel monitoring and utilizing the Predator's live data feature to monitor timing and other vital parameters.

    The Predator allows the end user to adjust the following parameters:

    • Global Spark Adder -6 Degrees/+4 Degrees
    • Mass Air Flow Curve Adjustment
    • Injector Size Adjustment
    • Dual Timing Adjustment Points (1000-2500 RPM/3000-6000 RPM)
    • Timing Table (+10%/-40%)
    • Dual Fuel Adjustment Points (1000-3000 RPM/3000-6000 RPM)
    • Fuel Table (+40%/- 10%)
    • Idle (+/- 20%) (400-1200 RPM)
    • Speed Limiter re-set to 140 MPH
    • Rev Limiter(Drive and Neutral 6400 RPM max)
    • Full Throttle Shift Points RPM
    • Full Throttle Shift Pressure Per Gear
    • Part Throttle Shift Pressure Per Gear
    • Global Line Pressure Adder 0-50psi
    • Torque Modulation On/Off Per Gear
    • Re-Calibrate Speedometer for Gear and Tire Size Changes
    Diagnostics and Live Data Logging

    The Predators advanced diagnostic features allows end user scan and erase fault codes. Predator contains all the Ford specific fault codes known. Unlike the competition, fault codes are displayed along with plain text description of the code. No need to look through a manual to find what a particular fault code means.

    The diagnostics features can be used on any Ford OBDII vehicle, regardless if the tool has locked itself to a specific vehicle or not.

    Data logging is available as well. Logging stores 30 minutes of data, with slow rate the logging allows for up to 90 minutes.

    The log can be viewed in the Diablo Predator, or it can be uploaded to your PC for viewing with the FREE DiabloSport DAT Viewer for Windows software.
